Loved this rail journey on GWR line it really is God's Wonderful Railway. Well worth a visit in all types of weather. We went on a lovely sunny day so saw wonderful views.
Step back into the age of steam. When the Severn Valley Railway has an event on, the station can get packed. On non event days it is usually the total opposite. There's a pub, the Railwayman's Arms for a pint and a snack. There's a gift shop. There's a cafe and obviously there's the locomotives. Also at present there's construction being done on an extension. #Nostalgia
This is an incredible heritage railway, not just for the steam engines, but all the places to visit along the line. The visitor center was way more than I was expecting to find, and the viewing balcony is a great spot to watch the trains pass by. The gents toilets, viaducts, rivers, and walks can make this a multiple day out. Well done to all concerned.
This is a little bit of yesterday packaged up and available to view in real time. A working steam railway not too far from the metropolis of Birmingham. It has most of what you would expect, although some aspects are being actively renewed catering in particular being built into a brand new but "period" extension
An enjoyable railway with a very helpful guide book to highlight the history of the surroundings along the journey. Stations look very well cared for, and staff were really helpful. It's not overly cheap but you are paying to experience a complex piece of history. You can buy an all day ticket and stop at the various attractions along the way.
