Lovely place. Great staff. Great food, massive portions! Loved the log burner felt really cosy.

Has been renovated by Joules brewery and looks lovely. Beer is good and usually has a decent draught cider, but it has turned into another pub that thinks the only way to get custom on a Saturday night is to have loud bands. Originally (last year) it did really good food but with a change of landlord that is a bit hit and miss. You won't be short of somewhere to sit if you want to go and find out for yourself.

Just had a fabulous lunch. Service was excellent and food was delicious. New owners were very welcoming.

Excellent. Last choice for Sunday roast. Fab service from girl at bar who did not rush when explaining the choice of g and t. She was Confident. Waitress came to check if everything was OK with meals. Certainly be going back.

This is a historical building with an incredible atmosphere. The real ales are varied and all of exceptional quality. My wife and I both had minted lamb pie and we were both overwhelmed with how delicious our meal was. The Shakespeare buck the trend of serving a pie in a dish with a piece of pastry on top and produce a full pastry encased pie packed with meat and flavour. I cannot speak highly enough of this pub.
